Comments

People often assume that running an online games business is simple. It is not. Nothing about it is simple! There are many, many mistakes which companies make time after time after time, because they simply aren't aware that the path they are following has been followed before and that some of the forks lead to known dead ends. Even in technologies which have been around for many years, for example those related to text-based games, well-financed, professional companies continually trip up on fundamental errors that an hour's consultancy would have detected, but which they (often in over-confidence) haven't even considered to be problematical.

It is not un-macho to ask for help: it is sensible. With a wreath of NDAs, no-one need ever know anyway except for you - and what you learn could save you thousands (or, as in the case of at least one of MUSE's customers, millions).

If you're a company working in the online business, then unless you've done this all before, it will almost invariably be worth your while to ask for professional advice. If you don't, you may be at a disadvantage to those who do.
