- noun The pseudo-class of objects which prevent (or reduce the risk of being) assailed by other personae, in particular defences against 'summon' and 'force' spells. These objects are usually treasure as well, and it is a cause of great distress if a passing stealer relieves you of some protection then hares off to swamp it. When known killers are about, protection is essential. "I'm not going out there unless someone finds me some protection". In BL, the term is used exclusively to refer to defence against 'summon' spells. See non-T T.
