stable state
- noun In HCDS terms, a game which has achieved a balance
between the various categories of player. There are three basic
stable states: type 1) is dominated by killers and achievers,
with very few explorers and socialisers; type 2) has many
socialisers, but very few of the other classes of player; type
3) has all four groups influencing the game's atmosphere to a
similar degree, although not necessarily by having equal
numbers of the same. A fourth possibility is the null case
where the game has no players.
MUD1 achieved type 3) status by
long experimentation and game management; MUD2 was designed to
work that way from the outset.
