synchronous

  • adjective Of an interpreter, meaning that commands are executed one at a time rather than in parallel. The advantage of this is that the system is easier to program, and individual commands use less CPU than in an equivalent asynchronous approach. The disadvantage is that commands which entail a lot of processing delay other, simpler commands. MUD2 is synchronous, MUD1 asynchronous.
