MUD2Wedding Script Hat

Dearly beMUDded...
We are gathered together here in the sight of
several wizzes, and in the presence of these
mortals, to join together this
<his rank> and this <her rank> in
wholly unexpected matrimony,
which is an honourable estate, instituted of
MUD, and signifying unto us the mystical union which
exists between player and persona.
It is therefore not to be entered into unadvisedly,
(well, not much, anyway),
but reverently, discreetly, and in fear of FOD.
Into this holy (ie. full of holes) estate, these
two people come now to be joined.
If any man can show just cause why they may not be wedded
OK, folks, before I say the next line,
I want you all to cough...
<pause>
Done? OK, here we go...
let him speak now, or forever hold his peace.
<pause>
;looks absently at his FOD finger.
<pause>
I require and charge you both, as you stand in the
presence of... oh, hold on, this isn't a church
I'll skip that bit...
I require and charge you both that you do now declare
before this company
(Interplay Productions Inc)
your pledge of faith, each to the other.
Be well assured that if these solemn vows are kept inviolate,
it will be a miracle...
<him>, wilt thou have this <her rank> to be thy wedded wife?
<pause for premature reply>
Wilt thou love her, comfort her, honour her, in sickness and
in 120/120 stamina?
And forsaking all other keep thee only unto her, so long as ye
both shall play?
<pause for reply - "I will">
<her>, wilt thou have this <his rank> to be thy wedded husband?
Wilt thou love him, comfort him, honour him
(OK, 'honor him')
and keep him, in sickness and ... nah, he's always sick ...
And forsaking all other keep thee only unto him, so long as ye
both shall play?
<pause for reply - "I will">
Who giveth this <her rank> to be married to this <his rank>?
<pause for reply - "I do">
Right, you two, hold hands.
<pause for them to hold hands>
<him>, say after me:
I, <him>
<pause for repeat>
take thee, <her>
<pause for repeat>
to be my wedded wife,
<pause for repeat>
to have and to hold from this day forward
<pause for repeat>
for better for worse, for richer for poorer
(you might like to think about that last one)
<pause for repeat>
in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish,
<pause for repeat>
till death us do part;
<pause for repeat>
and thereto I pledge thee my troth.
<pause for repeat>
<her>, say after me:
I, <her>
<pause for repeat>
take thee, <him>
<pause for repeat>
to be my wedded husband,
<pause for repeat>
and promise the same things he did
<pause for repeat>
and thereto I pledge thee my troth.
<pause for repeat>
So, I guess I should do a WH RING now...
WH RING
OK <whoever has them>, hand them over...
The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign
of an inward and spiritual grace
it says here...
signifying to all the uniting of this <his rank> and
this <her rank> in MUDrimony.
<him>, repeat after me:
In token and pledge of our constant faith and
abiding love
<pause for repeat>
with this ring, I thee wed
<pause for repeat>
<repeat for her if he has a ring>
I trust everyone held onto their stomachs during that.
;puts his hands on <his> and <her> hands.
Forasmuch as <him> and <her> have consented together
in MUDlock, and have witnessed the same before this company
(MUSE Ltd)
and thereto have pledged their faith each to the other,
and have declared the same by joining hands
and receiving ring<s>,
ashes to ashes, dust to ... oops, wrong page
I pronounce that they are husband and wife together.
Those whom an arch-wiz has joined together, let no mortal
or wiz, come to that,
put asunder.
<him>, you may snog the bride.
;signals to the orchestra
;whispers, "I'll collect my fee in the vestry".
