There are four types of "synonym" in BL. The first type is the direct synonym, whereby a single object (and ONLY that object) can be referred to by a synonym. Example: CS is a synonym of CANDLESTICK. The second type is only an apparent synonym, in that objects can be referred to by their class names. Thus, what may be used as a synonym in practice isn't necessarily a one-on-one relationship. Example: BLOODSTONE and AMETHYST can both be referred to as GEM. The third type is where the class itself has a synonym. Example: COINS is a synonym of MONEY (the class which has COIN, DOUBLOONS, PIECES and GROATS as members). The final type synonym is the general, of which there are two: ALL and TREASURE. These can act as "synonyms" for many objects.

Commands can also have synonyms, but they are more awkward to pin down. This is because commands can be defined to do the same thing without their actually being official "synonyms". Only direct synonyms are considered here.

So, what I have done is to edit the actual source files of BL to produce a list of all synonyms. Actually, that's not entirely true: I edited the source files for MUD1, rather than BL, and there may be minor differences. I think you'll find it's pretty near comprehensive, though.
