If a comms link becomes broken but information to this effect has not been propagated to the host, then the affected player will think it's carrier loss but the game will merely consider them afk. While in such an state, personae are incapable of doing anything, but are still capable of having things done to them. As a result, death death often results... See lag, dumped, pslam.
