  1. noun What your FE (strictly speaking, your client) displays on your screen. This normally doesn't mean characters echoed back from your input, except when this echoing fails. Line-noise usually manifests itself in output as gibberishly random characters splurged together. See input (sense 1).
  2. verb/1 To cause output (sense 1) to appear. "Then the FE outputs a blank line". See input (sense 2).
