Reformed honours

Sir: It seems that there are two criteria that members of the general public must satisfy in order to be knighted: you have to do something exceptional and you have to live for many years after having done it. How many years, therefore, cam Tim Berners-Lee expect to have to wait before some government committee decides that inventing the World Wide Web was an achievement worth recognising?
